Feel the difference
Nothing on top. It is the fabric.
Heat turns sublimation ink into a gas that dyes the polyester itself. Press it below and look close: the weave stays, the color moves in, and there is nothing on the surface to feel.
- Feel
- No feel at all
- Where the ink lives
- Inside the polyester fibers
- Made for
- White and light polyester
Illustration, not to scale. Both are printed in-house by DTFSheet.
How it works
Ink turns to gas. Gas turns to color.
We print your design with sublimation ink on transfer paper. When you press it, heat turns the ink into a gas that dyes the polyester fibers. Nothing sits on top, so the print becomes part of the fabric.
-
01
Printed on sublimation paper
Your designs, printed in-house in the USA with sublimation ink.
-
02
Heat turns the ink to gas
At 385°F under medium pressure, the ink leaves the paper as a gas.
-
03
The gas dyes the polyester
It goes into the fibers and stays there. The print is now part of the fabric.
- Zero feel
Nothing sits on the surface, so you feel the fabric, not a print.
- Built into the fabric
The ink becomes part of the polyester fiber, so the print lasts the life of the garment.
- Your shirt is the white
There is no white ink. White areas in your art show the shirt, and the shirt color mixes into the design.
Will it work on my shirt
Light polyester brings out the color.
Sublimation dyes polyester, and the shirt shows through the dye. Set your shirt color and fabric, add your art, and see what you get.
Shirt color
Your art
Made for sublimation.
White 100% polyester gives the best color. Your design dyes in with zero feel.

Pressing
Tape. Press. Peel it hot.
Sublimation presses hotter and longer than DTF, and the paper comes off the moment the press opens.
- 01 Prep the shirt Lint roll it, pre-press 5 to 10 seconds, and put paper or cardboard inside.
- 02 Tape it down Printed side down, with heat tape on the corners so it cannot shift.
- 03 Press at 385°F 45 to 60 seconds, medium pressure, with a Teflon sheet or butcher paper on top.
- 04 Peel it hot Lift the paper straight up the moment the press opens, in one motion.
- Close it gently. Close the press gently and evenly so the paper stays put and the print stays sharp.
- Pad the seams. A foam pad over seams and collars gives even pressure.
- Stay at 385°F. Higher heat can leave press marks, shine or scorch light polyester. If you see a press box, a quick steam usually clears it.
Works onWhite and light polyester and blends with 65% polyester or more.
Aftercare
Built to last.
Share it with your customers or print it on your hang tags.
- Lasts the life of the garmentThe ink becomes part of the polyester fiber, so there is no layer to wear off.

Rock n Roll PhotographerSo initially I ordered a small batch to see the quality. I was very impressed with the image transfer especially since it was one of my photos. Some companies don’t give a clear image. This one was very very clear. And looks great! I’ll be back for sure.

Great!Great service, super quick, and I like the quality. I wish DTF in general were a little more like screen printing. The plastic feeling is less desirable in my opinion, but it is what it is.

Antoinette D.Verified DTFSheet customer -
As Advertised Competitive PriceI ordered a gang sheet with random logos to kind of get started just making my own hats and shirts, simple but dtf was very easy to work for custom and price was definitely not high end and quick turnaround Will definitely be ordering more

Absolutely Perfect!I’m a cosplayer who needed a specific design printed on a DTF transfer, and at first I went to a different website with terrible results, but DTFSheet.com got everything correct the first time! The colors, sizing, and quality are outstanding, and although I haven’t applied this to my project yet, I’m already extremely happy with the transfer just based on...

Sublimation FAQ
Good questions, straight answers.
What is sublimation?
We print your design with sublimation ink on transfer paper. When you press it, heat turns the ink into a gas that dyes the polyester fibers. Nothing sits on top, so the print becomes part of the fabric, with zero feel.
How is it different from DTF?
DTF prints your design over a white ink layer and bonds it to the surface of the fabric, so it works on cotton, polyester and blends in any shirt color. Sublimation dyes the polyester itself, so there is no feel at all, and it is made for white and light polyester. Simple rule: if the shirt is cotton, dark or colored, or the design has white in it, go DTF. If it is a white or light polyester piece and you want no feel at all, go sublimation.
Which shirts work best?
White and light 100% polyester gives the best color. Blends work with 65% polyester or more. A 50/50 blend gives a washed out, vintage look, because only the polyester takes the ink. On 100% cotton the ink has nothing to bond with and washes out, so choose DTF for cotton.
Can I print on dark or colored shirts?
Stick to white and light colors. There is no white ink, so the shirt color shows through and mixes into the design. A blue shirt tints the whole design, and on black it basically disappears. For dark and bright shirts, choose DTF.
What happens to white in my design?
Sublimation does not print white. Anything white in your design comes out as the color of the shirt, so on a white shirt it reads as white. If your design needs true white on a colored shirt, choose DTF.
Will I feel the print?
No. The ink dyes the polyester fibers and nothing sits on top, so you feel the fabric, not a print.
How long does it last?
The ink becomes part of the polyester fiber, so the print lasts the life of the garment.
Does it work on mugs and tumblers?
Yes, on blanks with a poly coating: mugs, tumblers, metal signs, coasters and mousepads. Press them with the settings from the blank maker and follow their care instructions.
How do I press it?
Lint roll the shirt, pre-press 5 to 10 seconds and put paper or cardboard inside. Lay the transfer printed side down and hold it with heat tape. Cover with a Teflon sheet or butcher paper and press at 385°F for 45 to 60 seconds with medium pressure. Peel the paper straight up right away, in one motion. For thin performance polyester, use 385°F for 40 to 45 seconds with light to medium pressure. Settings vary by press, so test one blank first.
Why the heat tape and the paper inside?
Heat tape keeps the transfer from shifting during the press, which would give a blurry ghost image. Paper or cardboard inside the shirt keeps the ink from passing through to the back.
I see a press box on the shirt. What now?
A quick steam usually clears it. Next time, use a foam pad over seams and collars for even pressure, and stay at 385°F, since higher heat can leave marks or shine on light polyester.
Can I mix sublimation and DTF designs on one sheet?
Each sheet prints on sublimation paper, so every design on it is sublimation. Put the designs for cotton or dark shirts on a standard DTF sheet.
What files can I upload?
PNG, PDF, AI or EPS. 300 DPI works best. Upload a finished 22 inch wide sheet with your designs laid out.
What if my file has an issue?
Every file is checked by a person before it prints. If we see low quality or sizing issues, we pause production and contact you. If the quality isn't perfect, we reprint it.
